“Docked Boat”

Mark 6: 30-32 “The apostles gathered around Jesus and told him everything they had done and taught. He told them, ‘Come away to a deserted place all by yourselves and rest for a while,’ because so many people were coming and going that they didn’t even have time to eat. So they went away in a boat to a deserted place by themselves.”

Jesus understood the need to rest, and suggested going to a deserted place. They went away in a boat.

Doesn’t that sound like good advice for modern times? Both literally and metaphorically. Imagine that at any time, we have a spiritual docked boat to go to when we need to rest. We can retreat there in quiet prayer, music, reading- whatever we need to restore our weary souls.

But going away in a boat is so restful to the soul that may help to take the verse literally- and we may have to put some effort in to find it.

Tucked behind a tree, is the boat. Climb in, row… drift away.

Seasons change, people change, but we always need to make time for rest… especially if we’ve worked hard, and we know we did everything asked of us.

Find your docked boat. Spiritually or literally.
