Watch Natalie paint “Irish Angel” in this 2 minute time-lapse video.
Excerpt from book “50 Oil Paintings Inspired by my Christian Faith”:
“This is one of my favorite projects. My husband gave me a grey angel statue, holding her dress as if to collect something, but empty. I imagined her with a human face, full color, pretty flowers in her dress, in the woods, with shamrocks. I got a little carried away!
The inspiration for the angel’s face is my dear cousin, who was my childhood friend- she passed away in her sleep from diabetes when she was 30 years old. She was a beautiful person, leaving behind two young children. She’s been gone a long time now. I miss her.
I lived in Ireland in 2016 and enjoyed the St. Patrick’s Day parade in Cork. Now, in 2020, Ireland’s parades are canceled, and in the United States as well. Yet, faith is not canceled.” (update: faith is still alive in 2022-beyond!)
