Today’s guitar practice is about POWER, freedom and passion. “I Speak Jesus” by Charity Gayle is a powerful song, so it’s an excellent song choice for this session. In this easy version, yet again there are only 4 basic chords, so there’s nothing holding us back from focusing on other elements. If you’re on this learning to guitar journey with me, this exercise involves strumming and picking strings on other parts of the fret board, freely, as you feel the music inviting you to do.
Be creative! When we lose ourselves in the song freedom and passion will come naturally. When hitting the most important song lyrics, the power is also a natural outcome. Play louder, sing bolder, and let the song change you. I hope you feel this song as much as I do. I especially get emotional on the part that says, “Jesus for my family”.
I want so much to heal their hurts, give them the answers they’re looking for, make their happy lives happen, and prevent anything bad from ever happening to them, but I can’t. It’s so painful to love people so much, and not be able to solve their problems, end their heartaches, or give them the special person, baby, or dream they seek. All we can do is hope for them, support them, pray for them, and love them – while declaring Jesus for our families.
God bless you and yours. xoxo (P.S. Did you notice the little lion painting on my guitar? If you missed my post where I shared the painting video when I painted the lion on my new-to-me electric guitar, visit this page)
