As an update to my Easter Show 2026 video from last weekend, when I gave you a tour of my garden at the end – you know that strawberry patch I was so excited about, and how I zoomed in on the beautiful red strawberry? SOMETHING got to it first! GRR!
How I caught him: when I noticed a plump shiny skink just hangin’ out among my green onions, I tossed him a strawberry to see if he’d go for it. It took him only a second to pounce on it and dig right in! Mystery solved, ugh! Turns out skinks LOVE strawberries and I’ll have to cage my strawberry patch to keep him out of the berries. sigh, always somethin’…
I started a new playlist on YouTube “Sharing Life”, for videos like this one. Here’s the playlist description: “Funny, mysterious, or ordinary bits and pieces from my life, as we share the human (and sometimes animal and nature) journey together. The things I share influence and inspire my art, whether oil paintings on canvas, the designs I paint on musical instruments, the song lyrics I bond with for singing and playing the guitar, creative gardening, or just my general mood as I seek connection in daily life. I hope that you’ll feel uplifted, amused, and understood as you watch my videos. God bless you and keep you, this day and always!”

Natalie, just keep on sharing your life with us. I have an abundance of Skinks on my porch and in our flower gardens too. They have been among us for thousands of years and have quite a story to tell too. Continue on with your unique story and viewpoints! Sincerely, Chaplain Al and Lila
Chaplain Al and Lila, do the skinks eat your flowers? So far it doesn’t seem like they are eating mine – I hope not! It’s fun to see all of the interesting creatures that come out when there’s a natural environment for them. Do you like to bird watch? The song birds (Eastern bluebird, Northern Cardinal, all manner of finches, wrens, etc.) love “bluebird nuggets”. But, if you don’t already, make sure you have a squirrel buster feeder, it’s worth the cost in the amount of food that doesn’t get eaten by squirrels or scattered all over the ground. I have a cage style one that I love, it’s large and several birds can go in it at once (if they don’t fight each other to be the only one in there!).
