Dust in the Wind, Guitar and Lent

As Holy Week continues, the season of Lent ends and we’ll soon celebrate Easter. Lent is a beautiful time of reflection – we may have greater awareness of the things we should let go of, and acceptance of the seasons of life that are changing. Today’s video is about more than just my journey to learn how to play guitar. While “Dust in the Wind” is a good exercise for beginners like me who are practicing the chord Am (it repeats often throughout the song), this song is also an interesting musical choice for reflection, introspection, melancholic pondering, and spiritual awareness – perfect for the days leading up to Easter Sunday!

By the way, you might have noticed that nothing has changed since the last time you saw my guitar painting. That’s because I wasn’t working on that art. I’ve been painting my Easter 2026 art, which I’ll share with you very soon! I’ll give you a hint: the painting was inspired by song lyrics. I know that’s not much of a hint, but I don’t want to spoil my Easter show for you.

I hope you’re enjoying spring. Here in Savannah, Georgia the flowers are blooming, the butterflies and birds are happy, and the lizards are leaping. This time of year we have to be careful to mind the doors of the garden house, lest there be a lizard tail in the door frame! Birds are building nests. We should have another round of new bluebird babies- and this season we’re optimistic that a chickadee couple has also selected one of our birdhouses to start their family!

Until next time (this weekend!), God bless you and keep you, may His face shine upon you, and give you peace. xoxo

  1. Natale, This one of my favorite songs from Kansas in the mid 1970’s. It is iconic and reminds me of king Solomon when he wrote that life is just vanity and other than enjoying food and drink that it is all a gift from God we are all in vanity, just dust in the wind. Good song choice and well played. Sincerely, Al and Lila

    1. I love the part of the Bible that you referred to, it’s one of my favorites: Ecclesiastes chapter 2. King Solomon’s philosophy toward life (here on earth) inspires me in a powerful way. Thank you for associating it with the Kansas song “Dust in the Wind”, now I will too! I knew the song lyrics reminded me of something significant and familiar, but I didn’t place it. Now I know! Thank you, and I appreciate the pair of you. Love and blessings, Natalie
