Guitar - Painting

Here I Go Again on my Own

I’ve made progress on the guitar oil painting (updated photo is further down this blog), my journey to learn how to play the guitar (I have a new YouTube video to share), and accepting life’s plot twists. Sometimes we are pushed to find a new community, and at first it’s an unwelcome shock. The past few months have been stressful and hurtful, but I know that my family and I will weather through it. My husband and kids have helped me focus on new adventures, and dear friends have stood by us during the unfair situation and beyond. I am grateful for them. It’s also been helpful to have the guitar to channel my emotions!

This is my first guitar journey into the rock genre. This song “Here I Go Again” by Whitesnake is more challenging than the beginner songs I’ve shared with you. There are more chords, and one of those chords is Am. The Am chord involves a different fret from the starter chords of G and C that are played closer together, so it’s more difficult to change chords. There are also more chords in this song than the others I’ve played. But, it’s exciting to learn more complicated songs, and I plan to keep improving.

You might have noticed in the video that my oil painting of my guitar is looking more like my real life guitar. I plan to work on it for a while longer, but I need to start my 2026 Easter painting soon, so I’ll be setting up a second easel and dividing my time. The guitar painting might sit for a while, we’ll see how it goes.

I hope all of you are well, and are looking forward to spring. My garden is coming alive, the trees are budding, and the flowers are returning. The sun feels so good! By the time of my next update it will be quite warm here in Savannah, Georgia. I’ll share more pictures of my garden soon, and perhaps a video. Maybe I’ll even play guitar outside with the birds and lizards as my audience! Until next time, may God bless and keep you. May His face shine upon you, and give you peace.
