Easter Painting Show

I’ve started working on the 2023 Easter Show. The painting is planned, the music is chosen, and I’ve ordered this year’s dress. The art will be powerful. I hope you will remember to tune in.

See my oil painting “Jesus at the Table” come to life in 2 minutes (time lapse video above). I chose a monochromatic color palette to focus more on the emotion and textures. With little color in this art, the fish and silver stand out, and the contrasts in light and dark are stronger than usual.

For the next art of Jesus (the 12 minute video below, slower film speed and some of it in real time), I decided to use no color at all – only black and white (with shades of gray). I was emotional while painting this, and while singing. This painting is called “Jesus at Calvary”.

This next painting is called “Cross and Lily”. See it come alive in less than 2 minutes (time lapse video below).

Easter Sunday

Happy Easter! Today I’ll share peaceful and joyful oil paintings and songs with you. May you feel the burst of new spring life in your spirit, and the blessings of God upon you. It’s a new day. He is Risen!

I’m the one in the yellow dress, the two on each side of me are my lovely daughters. The third song is from a live event in 2018. I’m playing the mountain dulcimer and my son is playing guitar.

Good Friday

To mark Good Friday as a day of remembrance and humility, an artistic rendering of the cross is typically focused on the beauty of redemption, rather than physical suffering and unjust violence. However, the symbol of the cross represents the evils that often go unsaid. The battle between good and evil, ignorance and spiritual enlightenment, betrayal by people close to us, and divisions among political, economic, and social classes were humanity’s struggles for thousands of years and continue to this day.

The oil painting above is called “Cross and Lily“. Two of my other cross paintings are “Floral Cross” and “Celtic Cross“. Below, my kids and I are singing with the church choir “Precious Lamb”. As you can see, my live event footage is from before the ban on singing.

In the above song “Precious Lamb”, the lyrics that speak to me the most are about the “blameless one” carrying the blame, and the “life giver” giving His own life. When the innocent are sacrificed while the guilty go free we long for victory, in which all wrongs are righted. Sometimes the only path to freedom is through mercy; being blessed to receive forgiveness, and strong enough to forgive others.
