Our TARDIS Adventure!

Well, well, our TARDIS adventure quickly became “much bigger on the inside”! It all began when my husband Brent and my son Nicholas built a TARDIS console for the Doctor Who convention in Minneapolis 2015. Brent did most of the heavy lifting. Nicholas created the gadgets and directed the project. I wrote the software and Nicholas programmed it (the TARDIS is interactive, a flight simulator).

It was time to bring the TARDIS console to the Doctor Who convention in Minneapolis. We rented a small tow-behind trailer and hauled it in with our old trusty mini-van.

**Note: If you’re wondering what they’re doing ~ The TARDIS console has a monitor on it, just like in the show. Ours is a flight simulator (game) that warns of looming disasters, collisions, invaders — switches, levers, buttons must be pressed before the TARDIS crashes. Familiar faces flash on the screen to give these warnings…. alarming sirens go off, etc. My son and I programmed this story to coordinate with the gadgets and gizmos on the console. The story begins by instructing people how to fly the TARDIS. Pressing the correct lever makes the time rotor light up. People were running around the console to find the buttons/levers/etc. while alarms sounded and countdowns began. They also received messages from favorite characters and were under threat of invasion by DALEKS. Great fun, LOL!!!!! I must say, I loved watching the PANIC! Had to catch a few people, they were tripping and throwing themselves in wild attempts to hit buttons, LOL! I think people lost themselves in the pop culture fiction…. (too scary for a few kids, oops!)

Another famous face turned up, and he performed a improvisational episode on the spot!  I didn’t know this was going to happen… I was hosting the TARDIS event as I’d been doing all day. The next thing I knew… well, here’s Colin Baker, the 6th Doctor, flying our TARDIS!

After we brought the TARDIS console home, our son Nicholas used it as a computer desk! Cool beans, huh? This is pin worthy, wouldn’t you say? Share the awesomeness!
